The retreat
of the future
Sankt Helene is the vision of a new generation of spa and wellness experiences – where nature, sustainability, architecture and wellbeing come together in one holistic experience.
In a time defined by speed, noise and constant availability, the need is growing for places that invite calm, restoration and presence. The retreat of the future is not only about a stay, but about a feeling of balance, slowness and connection to the surroundings. At Sankt Helene, nature becomes an active part of the experience. The forest, sea, light and changing seasons provide the setting for a modern retreat created for both body and mind.
The vision is to create a sustainable and future-proof resort, with a focus on high quality, responsibility and experiences at an international level – while preserving the site’s unique history and connection to Tisvildeleje. Here, Nordic wellness, gastronomy, design and hospitality meet in calm and sensory surroundings between forest and sea. A place where nature sets the pace.
The new Sankt Helene
The architecture and materials draw on the Nordic design tradition and the desire to create surroundings that feel warm, calm and built to last.
Nature is not merely the view around the resort, but an active part of the entire experience – from wellness and gastronomy to light, movement and atmosphere throughout the year. The project is shaped as a resort integrated into the landscape — with spa areas, retreat environments, courtyards, green connections, gastronomy and living spaces developed on a human scale and with respect for the area’s unique character.
Sankt Helene is to be more than a resort. It is to be a destination associated with peace, quality, wellbeing and the feeling of being completely removed from the pace of everyday life – in the heart of Tisvildeleje.

The Danish Riviera
Along the North Zealand coast, between forest, beach and open horizons, lies Tisvilde – an area that for generations has been associated with nature, summer life, culture and a distinctive form of relaxed luxury.
It is this atmosphere that has given the area the name The Danish Riviera.
Tisvilde differs from many other destinations by balancing the raw and natural with the aesthetic and cultivated. Here, wild nature exists alongside small restaurants, galleries, holiday homes, cultural environments and a life closer to the sea and the changing seasons.

A feeling of freedom
The landscape is a crucial part of the experience. The wide beaches, dunes, Tisvilde Hegn and the distinctive light along the Kattegat create an atmosphere that feels calm, vibrant and full of character at the same time.
At the same time, the area has attracted people interested in art, architecture, gastronomy and nature for decades. Not in a flashy way, but through a more understated and authentic lifestyle characterised by quality, presence and simplicity.
It is precisely this balance between nature, calm and presence that makes Tisvildeleje so special.
A vision
with roots
In summer, the town comes alive with people, beach life and long bright evenings by the coast. The rest of the year, silence settles over the area, creating a very special atmosphere between the forest, sea and open landscapes.
The vision for Sankt Helene is created with respect for the
unique character of the place and the surrounding area.
A modern Scandinavian spa and wellness resort inspired by the area’s nature, culture and relaxed elegance – created with respect for its history, atmosphere and connection to the Danish North Coast.

The soul of the North Coast, the presence of nature
Sankt Helene is part of an area with a very special identity.
Between Tisvilde, Vejby, Rågeleje, Gilleleje and the North Zealand coast, there is a local community shaped by nature, culture, history and a strong connection to life closer to the sea and the surrounding landscape.
Here, small coastal towns, local speciality shops, restaurants, farm shops, crafts and creative communities meet in an atmosphere where quality, presence and simplicity matter more than pace and city life.
The area is alive all year round, but changes character with the seasons.
Summer brings life to the beaches, cafés and towns along the coast, while autumn, winter and spring create a calmer and more sensory atmosphere, shaped by nature’s changes, open landscapes and the silence between forest and sea.

Materials and landscape
Sankt Helene is conceived as a place that feels natural from the very first encounter with the landscape. The shadows of the trees across the paths. The scent of wood and warm surfaces, light between the buildings, green courtyards, open views and gentle transitions between indoors and outdoors.
Materials and landscape are not conceived as separate elements of the project, but as a unified experience that shapes the atmosphere of the place. The architecture draws on natural materials with warmth, depth and character. Timber façades, sedum roofs, charred wood surfaces and muted tones inspired by sand, forest and Nordic light will create an atmosphere that feels calm, tactile and timeless.
The materials are chosen for the way they age. For their ability to become more beautiful over time – and for the warmth and calm they bring to the experience of the place through light, textures and natural surfaces.
The landscape around Sankt Helene will also become an active part of the stay. Green paths connect the different areas of the resort. Small spaces for relaxation emerge between planting, courtyards and wellness zones. Nature is brought closer to rooms, spa areas and communal spaces, allowing the experience of the landscape to continue throughout the stay.
The vision is to create surroundings that feel calm without being formal. Exclusive without feeling staged. A place where materials, light and landscape together create a special sense of warmth, presence and understated Scandinavian luxury.
At the same time, the ambition is to work with responsible and durable solutions, where quality, sustainability and consideration are integrated naturally into the architecture and the overall experience.
